Each September, the country pauses to recognize the hardworking men and women who keep America moving during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. At New England Tractor Trailer Training School (NETTTS), we know firsthand how much dedication, skill, and sacrifice it takes to be behind the wheel of a truck. This week is our chance to say “thank you” to the drivers who make sure the shelves are stocked, businesses stay supplied, and communities across the country have what they need.
The Backbone of the Economy
Truck drivers play a role in almost every part of daily life. From the groceries in your kitchen to the clothes you’re wearing, chances are a truck driver helped deliver it. According to the American Trucking Associations, drivers move more than 70% of all freight in the U.S. Without them, the economy would come to a standstill. It’s easy to take for granted the goods we buy and use every day, but behind each delivery is a skilled professional who has put in the miles to get it there safely.
Long Hours, Big Responsibility
Being a truck driver isn’t just about sitting in the driver’s seat. It means navigating long hours, unpredictable weather, heavy traffic, and strict safety regulations. Drivers spend days, sometimes weeks, away from their families to make sure goods get where they’re needed. That takes dedication and a strong work ethic. At NETTTS, we see the commitment it takes for students to complete CDL training and prepare for this responsibility. That’s why we have so much respect for the men and women who do this job every day.
Built on Pride and Purpose
For many, truck driving is more than a job; it’s a way of living that is built on pride and purpose. Drivers know that their work keeps communities connected and businesses running. They take pride in mastering their skills, handling large equipment safely, and being trusted with valuable cargo. Our instructors at NETTTS, all of whom were former truck drivers themselves, often take pride in how rewarding it feels to be help train the next generation of truck drivers.

Training the Next Generation of Drivers
As we celebrate current truck drivers, we also look ahead to the future. At NETTTS, we’ve been training the next generation of CDL drivers for more than 60 years and have campuses in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Our goal is to give students the hands-on skills, confidence, and support they need to join the industry and carry on this proud tradition.
Thank You, Truck Drivers
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a reminder to thank the people who spend countless hours on the road to keep our lives moving forward. To every driver—past, present, and future—we see your hard work, and we appreciate all you do. From all of us at NETTTS: thank you for keeping America moving.
