Truck registration is on the rise
Registration of commercial vehicles, including trucks, increased 2.8 percent in the first nine months of 2013 when compared to the previous year, according to HIS Automotive/Polk.
However, truck officials and economists are paying close attention to October in order to determine if 2013 registrations will break last year’s mark.
“While the quarterly results are indeed a positive sign for the commercial vehicle industry, the results for October will be important in measuring the ongoing strength of the industry,” the report stated. “If new commercial vehicle registrations are going to exceed the level achieved during the 2012 calendar year, October needs to be a strong month.”
More trucks are being added each year as carriers are attempting to meet growing demand for truck shipping services. This is leading to a growing need for more truck drivers in many parts of the country.
